Administrative Burden, Stress & Family Caregiving Are Leading Causes Of Physicians’ Early Retirement
Administrative burden, workplace stress, and family caregiving responsibilities are key factors that lead physicians to retire early, according to a survey of 971 physicians. About 45% cited administrative “hassles,” and 45% cited workplace stress as reasons for leaving clinical practice.
Leaving clinical practice to care for a family member or children was more common among women than men.
