About 2.60 per 1,000 children ages 10 to 17 had diagnosed type 2 diabetes between 2022 and 2024, according to a recent study. Across all children ages 0 to 17, the prevalence was 1.40 per 1,000. Among children younger than age 10, the prevalence was less than one per 1,000, while the highest prevalence was among youth ages 14 to 17, at 4.30 per 1,000.
