The Institute For Behavioral Healthcare was formed in July of 1988, as a tax-exempt division of the Institute for the Advancement of Human Behavior. According to Michael Freeman, M.D., the Institute's executive director, the organization was founded to "provide educational conferences, programs and material for the behavioral health care industry that fosters industry evaluation."
