On February 2, 2005, an attorney for the Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania, Inc., Independence Blue Cross, Managed Care Association of Pennsylvania, and a number of health care providers, argued before a seven-judge panel that managed care plans have the right by law to review treatment for drug and alcohol addictions and pay only what they consider medically necessary.
