Governor John Engler announced in December that six counties in Michigan would become pilot sites for a new managed care approach to child welfare services. The request for proposal (RFP) process began July 1998. The financial awards will allow public entities in Jackson, Livingston, Monroe, Newaygo, St. Clair, and Van Buren counties to provide wrap- around community-based services to foster children in lieu of traditional foster care service methods.
