Indiana spends almost half a billion dollars annually on an array of community and institutional services for adults and children with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities (MR/DD). At this time, more than 5,000 people are known to be waiting for these MR/DD services. In order to meet the needs of the approximately 5,237 people on known waiting lists, it would cost an estimated additional $141 million annually.
