The White House announced on March 12, 2001 that it is delaying President George W. Bush's Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, while it works to calm the ruffled feathers of its opposition. The new office was established to allow religious or "faith-based" groups to obtain federal tax dollars for life and social services. The office has come under some heavy fire by those who argue for separation of church and state.
