Three Companies Collaborate On Electronic Prescription System

Three companies that operate most of the nation's managed care drug plans, Advance PCS, Express Scripts, and the Merck-Medco unit of Merck & Company announced in March 2001 that they will establish a joint system to make it easier for doctors to send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically. The new system should be available early in 2002.
The main purpose of the system, called RxHub, will be to improve patient safety by reducing mistakes and misunderstandings . . .
