Antidepressants Bring Remission to Half of Patients in STAR*D Level 2 Study

Antidepressant medications cured the symptoms of half of the participants in the large scale Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression study (STAR*D) Level 2. One third of patients in the initial STAR*D Level 1 study saw a remission in symptoms after an initial 14-week medication regimen; those who did not were invited to continue treatment in Level 2.
