Stating that mental health costs are rising faster than other medical costs of CHAMPUS eligibles, the Department of Defense has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a national contractor to implement a "proven, cost-effective system of pre-authorization, concurrent review, peer review, provider certification, and post-payment review for inpatient, outpatient, and residential care.
This program will supplant the existing peer review, quality assurance, ant pre- certification and concurrent review of residential treatment now carried . . .
