An OPEN MINDS survey of adult psychiatric room and board rates for the ten largest metropolitan areas revealed an increase of approximately 20% over the December, 1987 rates for the same hospitals. Hospital room and board rates for all hospitals increased by approximately 15% over the same period according the to the Hospital, Room & Board component of the Consumer Price Index of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
