The U.S. Department of the Army will begin a demonstration program to train military clinical psychologists to prescribe psychotropic medication by September 1, 1990. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Enrique Mendez, M.D., wrote a memorandum to the assistant secretary of the army, dated June 28, which requested that the Army put the demonstration project, on a fast track and identify two candidates to begin training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, according to a report . . .
