Trends in mental health coverage in recent years have not been consistent, according to a recent analysis by the Office of Economic Affairs of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). APA findings, as reported in the December, 1990 issue of Eco-Facts, include:

• Coverage of outpatient mental health treatment increased slightly, from 96% in 1984 to 98% in 1988.
