In 2000, 22% of employees worked for companies that carved out mental health benefits. This figure represents a 2% decrease from the previous year. Those workers employed by the largest firms (5000 or more employees) and who purchased point-of-service (POS) and preferred provider organization (PPO) plans were most likely to have their mental health benefits carved- out.
