More Than One-Third of Psychiatrists Do Not Contract With Managed Care Organizations

In 2004-2005, 35% of psychiatrists did not contract with managed care organizations. The percentage of all health care providers without a single managed care contract increased for the first time in five years to 11.5% in 2005 from about nine percent in 1997. The rate had remained steady at 9.2% since 2000.
