Despite Medicaid's mandate that all eligible children receive early preventive care through the EPSDT program, the percent of children receiving preventive care of any kind through Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) remains low, at approximately 40%. The EPSDT program provides prevention services for any Medicaid-eligible child, up to age 21. EPSDT provides coverage of comprehensive health, vision, hearing, and dental screenings, as well as immunizations, laboratory tests, and assistive technology devices and services in screenings . . .
