In 2001, 11.7% of all children nationwide were not covered by health insurance. Of all the states, Texas had the highest percentage of uninsured children at 22%. All figures given for 2001 are the average percentage derived from three years of data obtained from 2000 through 2002 from annual, nationwide interviews of 50,000 to 78,000 households.
