D.C. Mental Health System Vacancies Reach Crisis Proportions

The Medical Society of the District of Columbia (MSDC) has urged Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry to fill 596 vacancies in the citys mental health system. In a letter to the Mayor, the MSDC urged him to restore quality to a deteriorating system that the Society described as being in a shocking condition due to a shortage of funds, inadequate staffing, and a failure to implement a unified plan of care.
