CMS Questions North Carolina’s Contracts For Managed Public Behavioral Health Services
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has questioned how the state of North Carolina is planning to contract for developmental disability, mental health, and substance abuse services under its 1915 (b)/(c) waiver. North Carolina has been working towards transforming the public behavioral health system since 2010 with the goal of moving all state-funded and Medicaid behavioral health services from a fee-for-service basis to capitated payments.
