Asthma and Respiratory Infections Are leading Causes of Children's Hospitalizations
The most comprehensive U.S. medical research in a decade shows that asthma and infections like pneumonia and bronchitis accounted for more than half the hospitalizations of children from one to four years old. The research, according to a February 1, 2000 report in The New York Times also found that the conditions were responsible for nearly a third of hospital stays for five- to-nine-year-olds.
