CMS Case Management Rules Slated to Go Into Effect March 3, 2008

On March 3, 2008, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will implement new rules on Medicaid case management, which will restrict the types of case management activities that can be reimbursed. Case management is defined as services provided to help Medicaid-eligible individuals who live in a community setting, or who are transitioning to a community setting, gain access to necessary medical, social, educational, and other services, such as housing and transportation.
