Judge Dismisses 10 of 15 Claims Against Aetna U.S. Healthcare
New York Supreme Court Justice Herman Cahn dismissed 10 of the 15 claims the Payton vs. Aetna U.S. Healthcare lawsuit on March 23, 2000. Justice Cahn also dismissed claims against the two Aetna U.S. Healthcare medical directors named in the suit as well as all claims for punitive damages totalling $800 million.
The lawsuit ensued after Robert Payton, 42, a New York attorney who was addicted to drugs and alcohol, sought inpatient drug rehabilitation recommended by his physician. Aetna . . .
