Low-Income Uninsured U.S. Adults Less Likely To Have Chronic Conditions Than Medicaid Enrollees
Compared with those already enrolled in Medicaid, uninsured adults were less likely to have a physical, mental, or emotional limitation. They were also less likely to have several chronic conditions, though if they had a condition, uninsured adults were less likely to be aware of it and less likely to have it controlled. The number of currently uninsured adults with at least one chronic condition who do not have good disease control is estimated to represent 3.5 million persons in the U.S., some of whom may need initial intensive medical care following Medicaid enrollment.
