EAP Programs Report Rise in Employee Stress Counseling due to Economic Stress

On December 3, 2008, employee assistance program (EAP) provider Corporate Counseling Associates (CCA) reported it experienced a 15% increase in severe work stress cases in September and October 2008 compared with the same period in 2007. Another EAP provider, Bensinger DuPont & Associates (BDA) reported that utilization is up nine percent above 2007. Oliver Williams, director of quality management at BDA said that mental health services utilization is up by 20% and financial referrals are up by six percent. CCA . . .
