Disabled Individuals Sue State of Illinois to Enforce Olmstead Compliance On July 28, 2005, nine mentally disabled individuals filed a class action suit against Illinois state officials for an injunction to force the state to provide community-based services for individuals who wish to live in small community-based residential homes. Filed under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the complaint alleges that Illinois ranks 49th among states in placing people with developmental disabilities in small community settings.
