New York Medicaid's HIPAA Extension to Expire The New York State's Medicaid Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) extension is set to expire December 29, 2004. After the deadline, Medicaid will accept and process only HIPAA compliant claims and other transactions. Providers must submit any electronic claims; coverage and benefit inquiries; and authorizations by the date in order to comply. Any submissions after the expiration date will be rejected immediately.
