8% Of Medicaid Beneficiaries Age 12+ Were Treated For Addiction Disorder In 2018
About 8.2% of the 55.9 million Medicaid beneficiaries, in 2018, age 12 and older were treated for an addiction disorder, representing 4.6 million people. Across the states, the percentage of beneficiaries treated for an addiction disorder ranged from 4.6% in California to 15.9% in Ohio. In 31 states, the share of beneficiaries treated for an addiction disorder exceeded the national average.
