Emergency CMS Regulation To Require Nursing Home Employees Have COVID-19 Vaccination
On August 18, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it was developing an emergency regulation requiring nursing home staff to be vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Failure to comply will result in potential loss of Medicare and Medicaid participation and funding. CMS is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop the regulation and expects to issue the regulation in September 2021.
