Dual Eligibles Utilize Home Health Care At Twice The Rate Of Medicare-Only Beneficiaries
People dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid use home health services at twice the rate of those who are eligible only for Medicare. About 13% of dual eligible beneficiaries in fee-for-service (FFS) original Medicare had at least one home health visit compared to 7% of Medicare-only FFS beneficiaries. There are approximately 63.1 million Medicare beneficiaries and nearly 12 million dual eligibles.
Dual eligibles also have higher utilization of emergency departments and hospital services according to an analysis of Medicare data for 2019 through 2022. About 34% of dual eligibles and 17% of Medicare-only beneficiaries . . .
