Gastrointestinal Bleeding Has Decreased In Those Hospitalized With Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
There has been a decreasing prevalence and trend of gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) in hospitalizations related to both Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) from 2003 through 2017. Between these years, there was an overall significant decrease in the rate of GIB in hospitalizations for CD: from 3.83% to 3.03%. During this time, there was also an overall significant decrease in the rate of GiB in hospitalizations for UC: from 8.32% to 4.42%.
In 2006, 8% of those with GIB presenting to the emergency department in 2018 had comorbidities; this decreased to 3% in 2017 . . .
