Half Of Adults In The U.S. With SMI Received Telehealth Mental Health Services During 2020
During 2020, 49.8% of the 14.2 million adults in the U.S. aged 18 or older with severe mental illness (SMI) received mental health services via telehealth treatment, representing 7.2 million adults. In total, 9.1 million adults with SMI received inpatient or outpatient mental health services or took prescription medication to treat a mental health condition. About 79% of those who received treatment received the services via telehealth.
