Unsheltered Homelessness Up 3% & Chronic Homelessness Up 16%

The number of people experiencing homelessness in the United States increased by 0.3% between 2020 and 2022 to an annual single night point-in-time (PIT) count in January 2022 of 582,462 people experiencing homelessness. The incidence of homelessness varied across subgroups. The incidence of chronic homelessness in 2022 was up by 16% over 2020.
