Advisory Committee Recommends Reforming Federal Ability One Program With Focus On Competitive, Integrated Employment

The federal Ability One employment program for individuals with disabilities should be reformed to focus on competitive, integrated employment (CIE) as a strategy for improving employment rates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).   These recommendations were proposed by the Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities in its final report to the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Congress. The committee's goal is to create CIE opportunities on a broad scale for individuals with I/DD.
