Medicare Advantage Plans For Dual Eligibles Offered More Supplemental Benefits Than Standard Plans
Medicare Advantage (MA) special needs plans (D-SNPs) exclusively serving beneficiaries eligible for Medicare and Medicaid offered more non-medical supplemental benefits than general MA plans in 2021. Fully Integrated Dual Eligible (FIDE) SNPs, a type of D-SNP, were the most likely plan type to offer non-medical supplemental benefits. About 14.6% of general MA plans, 30.9% of D-SNPs, and 42.4% of FIDE-SNPs offered at least one non-medical supplemental benefit.
