Between March 1, 2020 and May 2, 2020, nearly 27 million Americans may have lost employer-sponsored health insurance (ESI) due to the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19), and that based on income 41.6% are likely eligible for Medicaid. This total includes people who lost their own ESI and those who lost dependent coverage when a family member lost a job and ESI. Among those who became uninsured after job loss, in addition to the share who may be eligible for Medicaid, and an additional 27.5% could qualify for subsidies to buy coverage on the Patient Protection . . .
