Number Of U.S. Deaths From March Through July 2020 Were 20% Above Expected; 67% From COVID-19
According to recent studies, the number of deaths in the United States were at least 20% above expected levels from March 2020 through July 2020. According to a recent study, 1,336,561 deaths occurred in the U.S. between March 1 and August 1, 2020. Based on historic data, expected deaths during this time was 1,111,031. Of the 225,530 excess deaths, 150,541 (67%) were attributed to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The remaining deaths were generally attributed to heart disease and Alzheimer disease/dementia.
