One-Third Of Dual Eligibles Over Age 65 Had Diabetes In 2020
In 2020, 32% of U.S. beneficiaries who were over 65 and eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid by virtue of age, disability, and low income had diabetes. In comparison, 23% of dual eligibles under age 65 had diabetes.
Including diabetes, more dual eligibles over age 65 had physical health conditions than those under age 65. These include heart failure (19% age 65 and over versus 8% under age 65), hypertension (60% age 65 and over versus 38% under age 65), and ischemic heart disease (28% age 65 and over versus . . .
