Chronic Kidney Disease Education Programs Result In More Consumers Opting For Home Dialysis
Individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who received CKD education were more likely to choose home dialysis than those who did not receive the education. Of those receiving the education program, 38.5% opted for home dialysis compared to 12.6% who did not. Additionally, the percentage of people starting dialysis who had a medical procedure to create permanent vascular access to facilitate dialysis was higher among those who received the education, at 57.9% compared to 33.8%. The differences between groups remained statistically significant at day 90 of dialysis.
