Number Of Adverse Social Determinants Of Health Predicts Heart Disease Risk
A simple count of negative social determinants of health (SDH) may help predict the risk of fatal heart disease. SDH are the economic and social conditions that influence individual and group differences in health status. These include:
- Social context (such as race and social isolation)
- Education (educational attainment)
- Economic stability (annual household income)
- Neighborhood (poverty level in a zip code)
- Health care (health insurance status, the condition of public health infrastructure of the resident state)
