Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act Signed To Strengthen Suicide Prevention
On October 17, 2020, United States Senate Bill 785, the federal Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019, was signed into law. The bill is intended to strengthen suicide prevention by updating the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) transition assistance, mental health care, care for women veterans, and telehealth care. The bill provides about $174 million over five years to strengthen VA mental health services, including a grant program for local organizations.
