Marian Mancuso Sutton brings an impressive 40 plus years of health and human service experience to the OPEN MINDS team, having demonstrated her skills serving in positions from professional nurse to senior director. Her with skills include participating and leading key strategic planning initiatives, improving processes and customer deliverables, developing strategic business plans and providing consultation to clients regarding policy issues, industry trends, and cost containment opportunities. Her background also includes providing quality and cost analysis associated with all managed health care programs.

Prior to joining OPEN MINDS Ms. Sutton served as a Regional Account Executive for Optum Rx at UnitedHealth Group.  In this role Ms. Sutton provided strategic planning, direction, and leadership in direct support of the United Healthcare Employer and Individual integrated medical and pharmacy book of business, focusing on both growth and retention.

Before joining Optum Rx at UnitedHealth Group, Ms. Sutton had an extensive career spanning eighteen years with Express Scripts, Inc. where she served in several positions, most recently as the Senior Director of Account Management for the Health Plan Division of Express Scripts, Inc. During her tenure in this role she provided coaching, mentoring, and supervision to a team of senior account executives servicing managed care and Blue Cross organizations. She also provided direction, supervision, and oversight in the development of strategic plans for customers within her division focusing on customer goals and objectives. Additionally, Ms. Sutton managed all Request for Proposals and renewed existing clients.

Prior to obtaining the position of Senior Director, Ms. Sutton served as an Account Executive for the Managed Care Division of Express Scripts, Inc. In this role she was responsible for developing strategic business plans for clients, determining and managing the profitability of client relationships, and serving as a project leader for initiatives within the Managed Care Division.

Before beginning her career with Express Scripts, Inc., Ms. Sutton served as an Employee Benefits Financial Analyst for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA).  In this role, Ms. Sutton was responsible for evaluating the quality and cost associated with managed care programs and welfare benefits. She also prepared Requests for Proposals for all health and welfare programs. Ms. Sutton served as the project manager for the implementation of Medicare Risk HMOs to the domestic retiree population and prepared financial analysis to determine the impact of Medicare RISK HMOs enrollment on FAS 106 liability.

Ms. Sutton holds a Master of Public Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Management, and Accounting from LaRoche College. Ms. Sutton also earned a Diploma in Nursing from Indiana Hospital School of Nursing.
