Dr. Robert Leonard brings over 30 years of experience in the health and human services industry to the OPEN MINDS team, with expertise in marketing, communications, and business management. He currently serves as a Senior Associate for OPEN MINDS consulting practice.

Prior to his role with OPEN MINDS, Dr. Leonard served as an Associate Professor at Capitol Technology University in Laurel, Maryland. In this role, Dr. Leonard led the Business Management & Data Analytics Doctoral Program. Dr. Leonard taught and developed doctoral level courses and multimedia training applications, collaborated with stakeholders to improve instructional design, and participated in departmental restructuring. Dr. Leonard further developed accreditation documentation for the doctoral program, served as lead professor for APA writing education and training, and served on the IRB and ARB committees for doctoral students. In addition to teaching at Capitol Technology University, Dr. Leonard has taught courses on management and leadership at Utica College and courses on marketing and communications at Loyola University Maryland.

Prior to his role at Capitol Technology University, Dr. Leonard served as the Business Development & Marketing Director for Adams County Winery, where he managed a team dedicated to business development, sales, marketing and creative initiatives. Dr. Leonard also secured media placements and senior level interviews, while managing the retail winery location.

Before his role at Adams County Winery, Dr. Leonard served as the Director of Marketing & Project Management for Al Betz & Associates, where he was responsible for marketing, communications, business development and project management.

Prior to his role with Al Betz & Associates, Dr. Leonard served as the Director of Marketing & Communications for the International Oncology Network. Dr. Leonard managed development of internal communications, drove strategic marketing, held accountability for a budget, and collaborated with sister organizations to foster better branding and marketing.

Dr. Leonard received a Doctorate in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a focus on leadership and organizational change from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His doctoral degree is complimented with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. Dr. Leonard additionally earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Loyola University Maryland.
