On October 29, 2019, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced plans to award contracts to six Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) for the STAR+PLUS program. The STAR+PLUS program integrates the delivery of acute care services and long-term services and supports (LTSS) for people who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled. The contracts go into effect on September 1, 2020. The initial contract term runs for three years through August 31, 2023. The aggregate contract value is approximately $10 billion over the initial contract term.
