The health of children with medical complexities (CMC) can be measured by 10 outcome domains. The domains were identified by via group concept mapping by researchers at David Geffen School of Medicine, Los Angeles Mattel Children's Hospital, Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pediatrics, and Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University, and RAND Corporation.

The ten outcome domains include:

Basic needs: CMC having their basic needs met.
Inclusive education: access to education that supports the child and allows for maximum participation.
