October 12, 2010 On October 12, 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Energy and Commerce released the findings of a congressional investigation of four large insurers about their coverage denials for people with pre-existing conditions seeking individual health insurance policies. The review found that Aetna Inc., Humana Inc., UnitedHealth Group Inc. and WellPoint Inc., found that together, they denied coverage to more than 651,000 people over the three-year period, about one in every seven applications.
