Geriatric Behavioral Health Services Now Available At Valley Baptist-Harlingen

Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen is now offering geriatric behavioral health services. These services come via a new 12-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health unit added to the west tower of the hospital. It is anticipated that the services offered by the new unit will help to decrease rates of major depression, morbidity, and mortality that can be brought on by untreated chronic medical conditions. The new unit includes the following features: designs that help make the unit feel similar to a residential environment; warm and inviting artwork; and access to psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other staff specialized in geriatric care . . .
