McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital To Close Geropsychiatry Unit
McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital in Michigan announced plans to close its geropsychiatry unit. Staff associated with the unit were to be laid off. The plans were announced on March 25, 2025. The announced closing date was April 11, 2025. The 15-bed unit provided mental health services to older adults. A hospital spokesperson said the decision was based on a “decline in patient volumes, a shortage of specialized providers, and an uncertain health care reimbursement landscape.”
