New York’s Chautauqua County Launches Program To Reduce Recidivism
The jail in Chautauqua County, New York, is set to participate in a program designed to help rehabilitate inmates. The program, called IGNITE - Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education – will offer classes in literacy, GED preparation and vocational training. It will also include life skill workshops focusing on topics including anger management and conflict resolution.;
New York marks the 10th state to have an IGNITE program. County Sheriff James Quattrone said program will not require any new funding. It will be run under partnerships with SUNY Jamestown Community College and Erie 2 BOCES.;
