Northwell Health Opens Emergency Telepsychiatry Hub, Reducing Emergency Room Wait Times

Northwell Health (Northwell) recently announced the opening of its new Emergency Telepsychiatry Hub. The 770-square-foot telepsychiatry center will provide remote, 24-7 consultations for mental health care consumers who are arriving to the health system’s emergency departments (ED) during an episode of crisis.

Influenced regions of the new center will include New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County, New York. Featured in the new facility will be nine video-equipped workstations that are staffed by members of a 35-person team that includes 23 psychiatrists and nine master's-level behavioral health clinicians.
