Use of Advance Directives in Long-term Care Populations
January 1, 2011 In a report by the National Center for Health Statistics, nursing home residents with mental illnesses often lacked advance end-of-live care plans. Advance care plans, called advance directives, include living wills and do-not-resuscitate orders, do not hospitalize orders, or specific orders about treatments.
